WELCOME TO OUR CAMPSITE ON THE WEB

My name is Mike and my wife's name is Kim.   We have been RVing/camping together since 2005,  but as kids,  we camped with our parents.  Now we are passing on the memories to our 8 year old daughter.  We usually have 260 lbs of dog with us.   Zeus,  a Bull Mastiff and Rebel,  a Bloodhound mix,  who is a Hurricane Katrina survivor.

We live in Oley, Pa,  and most of our camping trips are just weekend trips.  My plan is to keep a running blog on our trips and various camping/ rving experiences.  We'll see how that works.   Hopefully,  someone will find some of my blogs interesting,  but if not,  I'll have something to read in the off season.

Our current RV is a 2005 Sunseeker Class C motorhome.   Nothing fancy.  We had travel trailers in the past,  but with relatives in Kansas and numerous trips to see them,  a motorhome just made more sense for us.  It also made for a great trip to Disney World,  which I have a blog about.
So,  thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy it.  I will be adding pictures and "blogs" (hopefully) quite often.   If you have any suggestions,  drop me a line.

There are links below to the first few blogs I wrote.   I will be adding more,  hopefully on a regular basis.  There will be links to the campground I am writing about,  and a little about the campground itself and our trip.

Thanx again.

Big Timber Lake,  New Jersey  6/24-6/28/2011

2nd time we came to Big Timber Lake.  Beautiful and well kept campground.    Lots to do,  activities,  all types of sports,  lake and pool for swimming and a lake for fishing.   This is a great place to bike ride.   We used it as a base to visit the Jersey Shore.   It's only about 5 minutes from Avalon and about 20 minutes to Wildwood.   If you visit the area,  The Cape may County Zoo is a must see.  It's a huge,  free,  that's right, free zoo.   They have more animals than most pay zoos.  the sites are nice size.  This trip we were in a back in,  which was larger than the pull through we had last time.   They have a snack stand,  which has a good menu.  Nice gift/ campground store.   They also have bugs.   Lots of them.   Not just mosquitoes.  They have flies which they were calling strawberry flies.  And these things bite.  All day and night.  It made for very limited campfire time,  and they were immune to all types of spray.   this is also the first time we experienced kids driving around on a golf cart,  stealing beer out of coolers.  Other campers alerted me to it,  so i got our 2  130 lb dogs out.  Needless to say,  no beer was missing from our coolers.   Other than that,  Big timber lake is a really nice campground with a friendly staff and lots to do.

Mountain Vista,  Poconos    7/21-7/24/2011

We go here a few times a year.  This was our first trip for the year.  It was Christmas in July weekend,  so we took an extra night there.
I was working in Delaware the day we headed up,  so we didn't get there till 9pm.  Prior to leaving home,  we couldn't keep the air conditioner running.   even on the way up,  it wouldn't stay running on the generator.  That Friday,  the thermometer reached 105 degrees.   By mid afternoon,  when other campers were showing up,  the power couldn't keep up.   I metered the incoming voltage as low as 103 volts.   Nothing anyone could do.   Campground management asked everyone to turn off all possible electric.  This seemed to help.  No voltage problems the rest of the weekend.  No campfires,  either.   Just way too hot to sit by a fire.
The owners of this campground are some of the nicest people you'll meet.  Very well kept and OK activities.   Small game room,  but there are playgrounds,  horseshoes,  tennis,  quoits,  and even a pond,  to mention some of the stuff.   It's on the side of a hill,  so walking is a good workout,  and  bike riding is out,  for me anyway.  The sites are gravel,  and from what I've seen,  all are good sized,  especially the pull throughs.   It's in the Poconos,  so there is plenty in the area to do.   as far as the Christmas site decorating,  we got 2nd.  Lost first to a 24' tall Santa.   Go figure.    Hopefully that's the last time we camp in that kind of heat.   It was a very uneventful weekend.  Just way too hot.   Sorry bout the pictures.   we need a new camera,  or new photographer.
